Silvano Caldini was born in Florence on April 05, 1948. He studied for four years Graphic Arts at the Art Institute of Florence but it is thanks to the stimuli of Prof. M. Guasti that he began to be passionate about sculpture, which will become his artistic expression par excellence. He dedicated himself to plastic arts, executing works in materials such as stone, marble, wood, alabaster, bronze and resin, succeeding in exalting and combining tactile sensations, smoothness and roughness of the material whatever it may be. The Florentine artist is particularly attracted by the expressions of the human body in movement, the roundness of the female form in the splendor of their power of life, the male strength caught in the muscular tension. He enjoys making portraits on commission always managing to give them a personal connotation. His research is aimed at reality, with depictions of sacred theme as well as family subjects, managing to reconcile contrasting values such as sensuality and rigor, spirituality and concreteness. His is a warm realism that is never lost in the minutiae of detail rather aiming at an expressive and formal synthesis.
For Silvano Caldini fundamental experience of study and life was to attend for 14 years the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, free school section of the nude - with Prof. S. Batoni, then specializing in marble technique with Prof. F. Roviello and techniques of shaping with Prof. V. Ventimiglia. Caldini becomes more and more familiar with sculpture, preferring wood over other materials because he feels it is alive, in particular he prefers the pine wood because it is malleable, it is better shaped establishing a strong synergy with it. Moved by a particular sensitivity, his works are the result of real lightning so captured by visions and inspiration belts to reproduce what he sees and hears. In his works is alive his poetic and emotional soul so that his figures seem to embody a kind of romanticism.
Caldini has 380 exhibitions - including exhibitions and awards - in Florence, Venice, Bologna, Milan, Naples ... To name a few, in Bologna in 1987 at the Circolo della Stampa where he came second with a female sculpture in plaster (now private collection), the Crafts Fair in Florence performs live with the creation of a sculpture in clay finding praise from critics. Participates in 1990 at the "Mondadori Art Award". In Florence in 2010 at the Palace of the Panciatichi region is ranked first with the work "Joel" receiving the "Premio Italia" and in 2009 at Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, receives the prestigious "Golden Florin" for sculpture with "Emma".
Among the many personal exhibitions we mention in 2000 the exhibition at the Museum Art Gallery in Volterra. In 2013 for the duration of two months a personal exhibition at San Casciano (FI) at the Museum Casa Machiavelli. The most recent in 2017 in Arezzo at the rooms Ulivieri Montevarchi entitled "My Emma". Artist included in the Art Catalog Mondadori n.55.
