Francesco Fazio was born in Catanzaro in 1959, but lives in Gerenzano and has his workshop in Saronno.
At the age of 15 he learned to work iron and steel, becoming an expert blacksmith and forging mainly gates, doors, windows and railings. Following the crisis caused by the global recession that occurred between 2007 and 2013, in order to keep up with the times, in 2009 Francesco attended a course for innovation proposed by the Compagnia delle Opere (just by Saronno). This is what will be an important and unexpected turning point for man, who reinvents himself as an artist of design and garden furniture. And so it is that Francesco Fazio is now also known for his highly appreciated and happy to devote himself to the processing of steel COR-TEN. Steel, this, characterized by high mechanical resistance and atmospheric conditions, and the unmistakable rust color that is one of the distinctive features of the sculptures of the now Lombard adoption. Works, those of Francesco, mostly intended for outdoor environments. Very much in demand also on the photographic sets of prestigious magazines its elegant mirrors, cabinets, lanterns, chairs - which require minimal maintenance because COR-TEN steel protects itself against electrochemical corrosion by the formation of a passive, compact surface patina. Every object made by Fazio is refined and unique. From each of his creations emerges clearly the desire of the artist to make pleasant the surrounding and to seek the Beauty in the harmony of the particular, as well as in the essential and "clean" forms. In this way, Francis gives free rein to the feelings he felt and experienced, through direct contact with the material on which he imprints them. The Gerenzanese is then a person who feels the need to do good to others and, not surprisingly, not least auctioned "Heart and Soul / Heart and Soul" with the aim of raising funds to help Caritas manage the emergency Coronavirus and many families in Saronnese. Moved by the irrepressible urgency of investigating the void and the surrounding space, Francesco Fazio says he is aware of the substance and strength of what constitutes all the sensitive bodies and determines the mass and the real extent: the balance between the parts, In fact, it is what they never get tired of looking for - a balance and a delicate proportion, that is, between head, hands and heart. And in this regard it seems to have really succeeded, as confirmed by the numerous successful exhibitions and events that have seen him protagonist. Just to mention a few applauded occasions to which he attended, we remember the Rome Biennale 2016 and the personal Art and Design in 2015. Finally, there was also the participation at the Milan Fashion Week 2013, at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile Rho 2012 and its extraordinary exhibition in the Carrousel Halls, in the Louvre Palace, in 2014.
