About artist

Mariù, full name Mariuccia Barbon, was born in 1951 in Spresiano (TV-Italy), where she lives and works. Her beloved town in the Veneto plain, on the right bank of the Piave River, is a constant source of inspiration in the artist's pictorial works. Mariuccia Barbon is also well known in the sports world as a multiple world champion in finswimming (last in 2019). Mariuccia's life was very intense, marked also by a serious illness, but thanks to her tenacity in sports, art, and joy of living, she won over the ugly disease.

Hers is a family predisposed to artistic work, and she takes all the hints, father Mario is a master in the art of wood, a furniture craftsman and a knight of labor, and mother Dina, a refined embroiderer who stimulates her in every way to pursue what she feels inside. Mariuccia pursued studies as a business secretary and accountant, but her passion and curiosity for art led her to approach art studies by attending, for as long as the vicissitudes of life allowed her, the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.

An innate talent that of Mariuccia Barbon: her first paintings are extraordinary depictions in homage to Giotto. True masterpieces on jute framed by her grandfather on a fine mortar ground. With her husband she runs an artistic ceramics workshop where she has been able to unleash her sculptural creativity, producing beautiful works in raku and glassfusion.

In recent years Mariù has devoted herself full-time exclusively to painting: from descriptive, detailed and precise figurative art, she is increasingly directed toward abstract art. Now her canvases speak of poetry, feelings and emotions. The shades of the crystal clear water of the Piave River, the colors of the seabed discovered through swimming and those of the sky that magically merge without limits constitute the inexhaustible source of his works expressed in generous dimensions. Her works with this swirl of colors and veils have the peculiarity of capturing the viewer's sensibility, making him become a participant in the work itself. Mariù in December 2021 participates in the Poffabro exhibition in Friuli, Italy. In June 2022 she exhibits at the Carte Blanche gallery in Marseille (France) and has 15 works on permanent display in Bassano del Grappa (VI - Italy). Mariù is reported in the Modern Art Catalog No. 58 year 2022-2023 published by Mondadori .
